The Wonderful Days of September

Cooper, Jordyn and baby Reese are so fortunate that their folks, Martha and Michael, know the secret about Martha’s Vineyard in September. (Sorry, can’t tell you here).

Elisha Smith

This fall I worked with Phyllis Meras on a piece for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine about Elisha Smith. Elisha has been a part of island agriculture since he was six years old and now, closing in on his ninetieth year, he still keeps 250 laying hens, 14 geese, and ten head of beef cattle on his small farm in Oak Bluffs. Speaking with Elijah was a great way to connect with the history of farming on the island and I am very happy with the resulting article.

Ann & Brad

Ceremony Location: Edgartown Lighthouse
Reception: Harborview Hotel
Wedding Planner: Julie Hatt

This wedding was exceptional. Ann – your dress is still my favorite to date and I just loved when your dad was walking around town with the wedding sign and his tie undone.
Thanks you two for inviting me to document your big day and for putting on an incredible celebration!

Paige & Greg

September 6, 2010
Ceremony: Old Whaling Church
Reception: Harborview Hotel

September is many Islanders’ favorite month of the year, and a great time to get married. Paige and Greg tied the knot at a gorgeous weekend ceremony in Edgartown at the Old Whaling Church. A picture of the happy couple dancing the night away at the Harbor View Hotel is featured in the current issue of Martha’s Vineyard Weddings.

Nico and his dads

I love the transformation children go through when meeting someone for the first time. At first their quiet, sort of checking you out, not letting you into their playground to frolic. People always ask me “What do you do” ” How do you get kids to relax and open up”? Well, you just have to be yourself, easy going, playful and allow your kid side to come out – and that’s easy for me. Nico was shy at first. But after we played a few rounds of tag on the beach he was ready to go. I also know that Grandma was making bunny ears behind my back and of course my assistant playing the accordion works every time!
